The moon will reach peak brightness at 4:29 p.m. EST on Friday,  Nov. 15, and promises to be one of the brightest nighttime displays of the year, according to USA Today

A supermoon occurs when the moon is full and closest to the Earth in its orbit, according to NASA. That closeness makes our rocky satellite appear 15 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter.

This is the fourth consecutive supermoon, Space.com says. We were treated to the rare blue supermoon in August, the Harvest Moon in September, and the Hunter's Moon in October.

The Beaver Moon gets its name from Native American and colonial traditions, as November is when beavers hunkered down in their lodges for winter, according to USA Today.

If it's cloudy Friday night, don't fret. Click here to watch the supermoon from the Virtual Telescope Project based in Italy.
